Stray dogs pose risk to commuters at Rawalpora

Srinagar, Nov 25: Presence of a large number of stray dogs near an open garbage dump along the main road at Rawalpora poses a risk to commuters passing through the area.

A delegation of commuters reported that hundreds of dogs rummage through the garbage and scatter the waste along the main road. This poses a risk of accidents. The stray dogs also chase pedestrians and scooterists, especially in evening hours,” they said.

“It is ironic that at a time when authorities are busy turning Srinagar into a Smart City, open garbage dumps raise questions on the project. We urge the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to order the closure of the garbage dump or place closed containers for garbage collection,” they added.
