Stray dogs on prowl in Handwara, people demand action

Kupwara, Feb 19: The residents of Handwara have expressed strong resentment against the presence of large number of stray dogs in the town thereby putting them into a lot of inconvenience.

Residents said that the presence of stray dogs in new bus stand Handwara, Herpora, Umer Abad, Maqbool Abad, Banday Mohalla and Associated District Hospital Handwara hampers movement of locals and school kids.

"Due to the presence of many slaughterhouses here in our locality the population of stray dogs has increased tremendously but authorities are watching as mute spectators," said Manzoor Ahmad a local from Herpora Handwara.

Pertinently in the recent past many injuries came to fore in Handwara Town. Rafiq Ahmad from Bye Pass road Handwara said, "Although we brought this matter into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail". The residents have requested authorities to see some solution to the presence of stray dogs in Main Town Handwara.
