Srinagar, Mar 10:  Residents of Pantha Chowk locality on the city outskirts have expressed concern over the presence of a large number of stray dogs in the locality.

A delegation from the area said that the increasing number of stray dogs in the locality poses a threat to the safety of residents. “In the past month, we have witnessed a concerning uptick in the number of stray dogs roaming in our streets. The sudden presence of these canines has prompted a call for action to ensure safety and well-being of both residents and strays alike,” they said.

“Stray dogs roaming freely in our neighbourhood are a cause for alarm as they can potentially attack residents, leading to injuries and spread of diseases such as rabies. This situation not only jeopardises the well-being of individuals but also undermines the sense of security within the community,” they said.

They said to address this pressing issue, immediate action must be taken to safely capture and relocate these stray dogs under the supervision of trained professionals. “By implementing effective measures to control the stray dog population, we can ensure a safer environment for everyone in the vicinity,” they added.
