Stray dogs on prowl at Kousar Colony
Srinagar, Oct 26: The residents of Kousar Colony, Palpora Noorbagh, have complained of a growing stray dog menace in the area, saying this poses a risk to their lives.
They said the rising number of stray dogs has left people, especially children and the elderly, in constant fear of attacks.
“Stepping out after evening has become a nightmare. Even going to the masjid or buying essentials feels risky,” said a local.
The locals blamed poor garbage management in the area for the problem, saying unattended waste attracts more stray dogs. They said many garbage dumps in the vicinity are not cleared quickly, adding to the issue.
“The management of waste in the area should also be looked into. My university-going daughter had a narrow escape multiple times, and it is becoming a major issue for us,” Habibullah, another local in the area, said.
Residents said adjoining localities are also facing similar issues and stressed that timely intervention is needed. They appealed to authorities to take immediate steps to control the stray dog population and improve waste disposal in the area.
