Stitchless spine surgery performed on Srinagar patient

Srinagar, July 28: Stitchless spine surgery was performed on a Srinagar patient.

34 year old Rubina Akhtar of Srinagar was suffering with backache for the last one year and gradually she started feeling severe pain in right leg from the last 8 months and developed a foot drop in right side. She was not able to walk straight and developed poor posture while standing and started limping with pain in right leg while walking.

Initially taken to a city doctor, she received drugs and physiotherapy treatment and was lately advised “open/microscopic spine surgery.”

“Due to fear, the patient refused to accept an open spine surgery offer and lived with disability. Lately, the patient's relatives came to know about the best option for such disease in the form of Endoscopic Stitchless spine surgery, which is done using local anesthesia, where the patient remains awake and time taken is only 15-20 minutes,” a statement said. “Immediately patient along with relatives was rushed to the best Endoscopic Spine Surgeon. Dr Trivedi (Neurosurgeon), Head of Spine Master’s Unit in Jalandhar Punjab, where she went with the same surgery and just after 20 minutes her right leg pain was gone and she started walking normally and her right foot drop, which was making her disabled was gone.”

Rubina’s family members said that the patient is back to normal life. Dr Trivedi said that foot drop is an emergency and a patient should be operated on within 24 hours.
