Srinagar, Jan 9: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Friday reviewed the progress in implementation of Civil Registration System(CRS) and status of Mandatory Biometric Updates for Aadhaar in a meeting of stakeholder Departments.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was given a detailed overview of the progress on Mandatory Biometric Updates for Aadhaar, status of the Civil Registration System (CRS) with a focus on the Birth Registration-Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) initiative aimed at enrolling newborns for Aadhaar at hospitals aligning with the goal of transforming the CRS for real-time digital registration of births and deaths. On the occasion, the DC stressed the need to ensure timely completion of mandatory biometric updates, particularly for children who have attained the ages of 5 and 15 years.

Meanwhile, the DC also reviewed the progress regarding the establishment of a Centre of Excellence-CSC in the district.

He also emphasized time-bound clearance of pending Aadhaar cases, especially those involving applicants above 100 years of age. The DC further directed all departments to create and operationalise official Gov.in email IDs.
