He said that this election was being fought for a specific cause and for not development. "This election is not for development rather development pertains to assembly and during assembly elections we would talk about development," Omar said.

While reacting on interim bail of Arvind Kejrival, Omar said that it was good that he has been released on bail but "I want to ask New Delhi why a former two time legislature Er Rashid has been kept behind bars when chargesheet has not been formed yet," he said.

"BJP has been claiming development post August 5 decisions . But let me tell you that I have been in this district for last seven days, I didn not see any development. Pathetic conditions of road, lack of electricity, hike in electricity tariff has been a severe problem for people. If BJP was so famous among people then why they did not field their candidates in this elections in Kashmir," the former chief minister said.

Omar said that he was happy to see the overwhelming response from people across the district during last seven days and hoped that people of the district will cast vote in his favor so that he can represent them in New Delhi. He stated that if NC comes to power not only infrastructure would be developed at District Headquarters Kupwara but Handwara would get a separate district headquarter.
