Statehood, constitutional rights remain core aspirations in J&K: Tanvir Sadiq
Srinagar, Feb 5: National Conference chief spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday said that the demand for restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees continues to be central to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, even years after the abrogation of Article 370, and condemned what he described as divisive and discriminatory policies targeting Kashmiris.
Speaking during the motion of thanks on the J&K Lieutenant Governor's (LG) address Tanvir Sadiq said that the demand for restoration of statehood and constitutional rights remained central to the aspirations of the people from the day one.
“Unfortunately, it was falsely propagated that the special status was responsible for all ills. The situation still remains grim even after abrogation of Article 370, nothing has changed," he said.
He further said that the third address of the LG reflected the consistent and unresolved concerns of the people of J&K.
"And one of the important concerns is the restoration of constitutional guarantees and full statehood," he said.
He took a dig at opposition saying that they have lost their voice and failed to articulate anything meaningful.
"They appeared low on energy, directionless and completely lacking substance. The vacuum has been decisively filled by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, whose leadership has restored confidence, clarity, and credibility,” he said.
