Stampede at Goa temple Leaves six dead, over 15 Injured during annual Jatra

New Delhi, May 03: At least six people were killed and more than 15 injured in a stampede at the Lairai Devi temple in Shrigao, Goa, during the Shree Devi Lairai Jatra. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Security arrangements included the deployment of approximately 1,000 police personnel and the use of drones for aerial surveillance as the annual religious event, which began on Friday, drew thousands of devotees.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the site to assess the situation, following an earlier visit to the Jatra alongside other political leaders.
