“We all should support the private coaching centres operating in the Valley as it will curb the outflow of the funds to other states,” Var said.

He said having the franchise of Unacademy in Srinagar was a short in the arm for the student community preparing for the different national level competitive exams. “Besides curbing the outflow of the money to outside states, supporting locally available coaching centres ensures continuous parental monitoring of the students taking private coaching at different coaching centres,” G N Var said.

On Friday, Lateef Masoodi, who runs franchise or Unacademy at Parraypora launched a new branch of Unacademy at Zakura which touches its boundaries with Ganderbal district

In his address, Lateef Masoodi said the purpose of opening a branch at Zakura was to cater to the students of Ganderbal and Sonamarg areas. “Students of Ganderbal who wanted to take private coaching found it difficult to join private coaching classes at Parraypora. Zakura branch will enable them to join the classes and return home in the evening as well,” he said.

He said they will also provide hostel facilities to the students of Leh and Kargil at Zakura centre. “During the admissions, we will provide 50 percent scholarship to the first 100 admissions. I have started the initiative with a mission to ensure that students, irrespective of their financial background can study at the centre,” Masoodi said.

Chairman International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Zakura Srinagar, Showkat Choudhary in his address extended his support to the Unacadamy branch launched adjacent to the premises of the IDPS.

“Our campus, our resources will be always available to Unacademy keeping in view the interest of the students,” he said. He said that besides getting education in schools, private coaching equally plays an important part in the lives of students. “During my early years after stepping into the education sector, I was against coaching thinking that it was useless to send students for private coaching. But after a few years I realised that private coaching plays an important role in preparing students for competitive exams,” he said.

Principal Nether Field School Sopore, Aijaz Masoodi in his address said they will ensure that students not genuinely in position to pay the fees for coaching will be helped out by the management. “Students belonging to economically weaker sections will be taken care of. No student will return disappointed from Unacademy centre,” he said.
