Baramulla, Sep 24: Students and management of St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa on Wednesday for the welfare of families affected by recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir.

The amount, contributed jointly by students and the school management, will be transferred to the Red Cross Society Baramulla, which is actively assisting flood victims.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner praised the students, saying such gestures reflect their strong sense of social responsibility.

Vice Principal Father Soosai Rajan said the initiative, though modest, highlights students’ sensitivity towards natural calamities. “Students are nation-builders. When they step forward to help flood-affected families, it gives us immense satisfaction to see them rise to the occasion,” he added.
