SSP Traffic urges parents to play role in preventing underage driving
Srinagar, Nov 25: SSP Traffic (Srinagar) Muzafar Ahmad Shah on Monday said that responsible parents can play a crucial role in preventing road accidents.
During an interaction with a group of parents, the SSP displayed a disturbing photograph showing a parent encouraging a child to drive a scooty— with the parent taking a backseat and the child handling the steering.
According to the news agency KNT, the SSP expressed concern over “the mentality of those parents who prioritise pride over their child's safety. "What will happen to this kid? Isn't he our kid, and aren't we responsible for all these mishaps?" he asked.
“Despite the rising number of road accidents, parents are not learning from their mistakes and are instead encouraging their children to drive two or three-wheelers.”
The SSP lamented that “parents are violating laws and putting their children's lives at risk.” "We have to think as a society. I feel sorry for these parents who encourage kids to drive," he said.
