Ramban, July 20: To review traffic scenarios, Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police National Highway headquarters Ramban visited Doda and passed on necessary directions to traffic police officers and officials on Saturday.

Official sources said Senior Superintendent of traffic Police National Highway, Rohit Baskotra accompanied by DySP, traffic Doda -Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh visited Doda and passed on necessary directions to traffic Police Sector Officers (SOs), of Assar, Khalleni, Thathri, Drabshalla and Deputy Traffic Inspector (DTI) Doda. He asked them to keep sharp eye on overloading in public service vehicles (PSV), goods transport vehicles and take strict action against traffic violations.

SSP directed officers and officials to check documents of vehicles. He also convened a meeting with local transporters of Thathri town. At the outset SSP Traffic pointed out Traffic Police National Highways top most priority is reduction in accidents for which support from all the stakeholders are required

He apprised transporters that they have a major role to play on account of vehicle fitness, documents, frequency of vehicles to avoid overloading, drivers’ behaviors and his physical and mental fitness. He sought help from all stakeholders for reducing recurring road accidents in the region.

Some local issues regarding parking on heavy vehicles decongestion of Thathri town were raised by the transporters were addressed on the spot. SSP Rohit Baskotra reiterated that it is our joint responsibility to make our roads safer for our collective benefit.

He appealed to the public to report any violation to the nearest Traffic post or traffic police help line numbers.
