Ramban, Sep 01: To provide road safety information to drivers, transporters, commuters, Senior Superintendent of traffic Police National Highway (headquarter) Ramban Rohit Baskotra visited Reasi and chaired a series of meetings with stakeholders on Sunday.

Official sources said SSP traffic accompanied by DySP traffic Udhampur Jatinder Singh visited Reasi town and had a comprehensive review of traffic scenario of Reasi district.

Officers en route briefed all traffic officials regarding action to be taken against Motor Vehicle Act violations and vehicles were checked and operators were briefed to drive vehicles with all valid documents and by strictly refraining from any rash driving, drunken driving , use of mobile phone and other violations.

In Reasi SSP chaired a detailed meeting with transporters, traffic officers and ARTO Reasi wherein the SSP pointed out that traffic Police has topmost priority to reduce the accidents for which he seeks support from all the stakeholders besides commuters. SSP said transporters have a major role to play on account of vehicle documents, fitness, and frequency of vehicles to avoid overloading, drivers behavior and his physical and mental fitness.

SSP advised the drivers to strictly follow motor vehicle act and rules for the maintenance of vehicles.

A large number of transporters hailing from Bus unions, Matador unions, Autos , tempos and load carriers attended and raised a number of issues on which threadbare discussions were held and some points raised by unions were cleared on spot by ARTO Reasi.

Issues raised by the transporters regarding regulation of buses, parking places for load carriers, pending permit cases, availability of vehicles on peak times were discussed in detail, regarding the role of transporters and other stakeholders in decongestion of Reasi town it was ensured that matter will be taken up with concerned quarters for its redressal.

SSP Baskotra appealed to transporters that topography, terrain and natural challenges puts more responsibility on all of us to keep our vehicles more safe, drivers to be fully alert, no overloading of passengers and goods to make the roads safer for all with collective efforts for society 's benefits.

Later SSP met with Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Paul Mahajan and brought the issues raised by transporters into his notice.

Deputy Commissioner assured SSP that all measures will be taken to address traffic issues of Reasi district on priority.
