SSP Kishtwar felicitates Asian Para Games gold winner Sheetal Devi’s parents

Kishtwar, Nov 2: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Khalil Poswal Thursday paid a visit to the residence of Sheetal Devi, a remarkable 14-year-old athlete, who recently clinched gold medals at the recently concluded prestigious Para Asian Games 2022 at Hangzhou in China.
On Wednesday, Sheetal along with other athlete participants of Para Asian Games 2022 had an opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the union capital.
An official spokesperson said that SSP Kishtwar’s visit to Sheetal’s residence served as a “gesture of recognition and appreciation for her (Sheetal Devi's) outstanding achievements.
Sheetal, a dedicated and exceptionally talented para-athlete, brought immense pride to India by securing two gold medals (one individually and one in a mixed event) and a silver (in a women's doubles event) in the Para Asian Games.
“Her dedication, hard work, and exceptional sportsmanship have been an inspiration to the community and a testament to the indomitable spirit of Kishtwar. During his visit, SSP Khalil Poswal congratulated Sheetal Devi's parents, recognizing their unwavering support and encouragement that played a significant role in her journey to success,” the spokesperson said.
SSP commended Sheetal Devi's resilience and determination, highlighting her as a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication and passion.
“The visit of SSP Poswal underscored the commitment of the Kishtwar police department to celebrate and honour local talent. It was a moment of pride and celebration for the entire community, emphasizing the importance of sports and the potential it holds in empowering individuals and communities,” the official release said.
SSP Kishtwar, during his interaction with Sheetal’s parents, said, “Recognition not only celebrates the achievements of Sheetal Devi but also serves as a source of motivation for aspiring athletes in Kishtwar and beyond.
