SSP Kishtwar conducts crime, security review meet

Jammu July 30: To hold a comprehensive review of security arrangements for Shri Machail Yatra 2024 and also to review the crime situation, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom convened a meeting today at the District Police Lines Kishtwar.

Police said that review for arrangements in view of ongoing Machail Mata Yatra-2024 was done while meeting was attended by Additional SP Kishtwar, Sub Divisional Police Officers, Station House Officers, Incharge Police Posts, Investigation Officers and other senior officers.

During the meeting, SSP Kishtwar addressed several critical aspects related to crime prevention, investigation, community safety, and enhancing the security of the ongoing Shri Machail Mata Yatra.

In this meeting a review of recent crime trends was also made and a thorough examination of recent crime trends and statistics in the Kishtwar district was conducted to identify areas of concern.

Besides, progress in ongoing investigations and especially criminal investigations was also discussed to ensure timely resolution and justice for victims.

In the meeting, police said, emphasis was laid on enhancing community policing with strategies to strengthen community policing and enhance public safety with an emphasis on community involvement in maintaining law and order.

Alongside, evaluation of crime prevention initiatives with the effectiveness of current crime prevention initiatives was assessed to optimise resources and improve outcomes while other points that were discussed included combatting drug abuse, checking bovine smuggling.

In this vital meeting, anti-militancy operations were also discussed with updates on anti-militancy operations and strategies were provided, highlighting the importance of vigilance to ensure the safety and security of the region.

It was emphasised that daily updates on these issues would be maintained through the E-beat book records, facilitating real-time monitoring and response.

SSP Kishtwar further directed the officers to lead in conducting area domination/patrolling and speculative/specific CASOs in vulnerable areas/pockets. Important directions were imparted among the officers to remain extra vigilant, strengthen nakas/checkpoints, and generate actionable intelligence to thwart the nefarious designs of anti-national elements.
