SSP Jammu reviews security grid along border

Jammu, July 4: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar has reviewed the operational preparedness along border grid and emphasised upon augmenting infrastructure there.

SSP reviewed the security grid along the border belt in R S Pura and Arnia sectors of Jammu district with particular focus on logistics. His visit was part of JKP’s initiative to bolster security in the general border area on anti-terrorism and anti-infiltration fronts.

SSP Kumar also visited Border Police Posts (BPPs) at Allah, Agra Chak, Arnia and R S Pura and took stock of requirements to upgrade security and strengthen BPPs.

Notably, the Director General Police R R Swain on Wednesday informed that in a major decision, J&K Police had ordered immediate deployment of 960 recently pass-out police constables on ‘anti-infiltration’ and ‘anti-terror’ front in the border belt.

He had informed that these police personnel, passed out from PTS Talwara last week only, were recruited in police under a special recruitment criterion of border area recruitment.

“560 of these personnel have been posted in areas of Jammu province and remaining in Kashmir. We have clearly imposed a ban on deployment of these cops on PSO, Crime, Guard, Office duties categorising their work only for ‘anti infiltration’ and ‘anti-terror’ duties to enhance security of the general area,” DGP had said.

Meanwhile, district police Jammu in the wake of rising water levels in rivers and streams, following rains, sounded an alert and asked the general masses to stay away from water bodies.

“Increased water levels in rivers and streams pose significant risks. Avoid walking, swimming through fast-flowing waters. Stay updated with weather alerts, have an emergency plan, and follow evacuation orders promptly. Call 100 for assistance,” district police advisory read.
