SSM College hosts seminar on entrepreneurship development
Pattan, June 16: The Business School of SSM College of Engineering organised a seminar-cum-expert lecture on Entrepreneurship and the Importance of Localisation, featuring nationally renowned thought leader and Swadeshi movement proponent Satish Kumar, popularly known as Satish Swadeshi.
Satish Swadeshi, Co-Convener of Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) and Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), addressed students and faculty on the need for India to build a self-reliant economic framework rooted in local enterprise and indigenous innovation.
A senior functionary of SBA, Swadeshi emphasised the importance of youth-led entrepreneurship for India’s economic transformation. He spoke passionately about empowering young minds to think innovatively, take calculated risks, and reduce dependency on foreign goods and systems.
Swadeshi is closely involved with MySBA, a national platform under Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to inspire and equip the youth for entrepreneurship. He has been instrumental in national initiatives such as the Bharatiya Udyamita Utsav (Indian Entrepreneurship Festival), promoting grassroots innovation and sustainable development.
During the session, he underlined the importance of cultural self-reliance, promotion of Indian-made products, and policies that encourage local manufacturing and services. He also called on students to engage meaningfully with government schemes to turn their ideas into viable ventures.
The seminar aimed to equip students with practical knowledge of entrepreneurship and inspire them to become capable and self-reliant professionals contributing to the nation’s progress.
