SSB personnel deployed in GMCH Jammu Emergency

Jammu, Aug 23: Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu has deployed SSB personnel in its emergency wing for the security of medical staff.

“GMC Hospital Jammu is among the first few hospitals in the country to have armed security in emergency premises for the security of medical staff,” a spokesperson of GMC hospital said.

“GMC administration has been successful in the implementation of such security measures after thorough discussions with police administration," it was stated.

“Deployment was made on August 22 evening as 12 armed SSB personnel were deployed in the emergency wing of GMCH, Jammu. They have resumed their duties and started the emergency round with effect from 6 pm under the supervision of the Incharge Police Post GMCH, Jammu and in coordination with the hospital security,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier, on August 22, the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) at GMC, Jammu also called off its strike, going on for the past seven days against the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case. “Strike was called off following the Supreme Court’s assurance to ensure justice in the case,” the Association said in its official statement.
