Sopore, Nov 1: SRM Welkin Higher Secondary School, Sopore, in collaboration with its Astronomy Club, in association with the Directorate of School Education Department, organised a night sky watching camp within the school premises.

A statement of SRM Welkin Sopore issued here said that the event provided students and parents with a rare opportunity to observe celestial wonders and explore the mysteries of the cosmos.

Equipped with telescopes and guided by experts, participants got a first-hand experience of stargazing and identifying various planets, constellations, and other astronomical phenomena.

Adding academic depth to the evening, special lectures were delivered by resource persons from NIT Srinagar, who enlightened the audience about the science of astronomy, space exploration, and the importance of nurturing curiosity and critical thinking among students.

A large number of parents, stakeholders, and members of civil society attended the event, lauding the school’s initiative to blend education with experiential learning. They interacted with students and faculty members, appreciating their efforts to promote scientific temperament and inquisitiveness among the younger generation.

Representatives from SRM Welkin School Administration emphasised the institution’s commitment to holistic education that extends beyond classrooms.

They said that such interactive programmes not only inspire students to look up at the stars but also encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, and research.
