Srinagar police warn against circulation of false flood reports on social media

Srinagar, Sep 05: Srinagar police on Friday said that certain false and misleading reports regarding flood management in the district are being circulated on social media platform, and said strict action will be taken under law against those found involved in spreading rumours or false information.

In a statement issued, police said that it is to clarify that police and civil administration are working in close coordination, with sustained efforts ongoing to effectively manage, contain, and mitigate any disaster-related situations in a professional and timely manner.

They advised general public to act responsibly and refrain from sharing or forwarding unverified information.

Misinformation can lead to unnecessary panic and disrupt public order, they said.

They also said that Srinagar police is closely monitoring the situation, and strict legal action will be taken, under relevant provisions of law, against those found involved in spreading rumours or false information.

Police urged all citizens to stay informed and cooperate with authorities.
