Srinagar Police observe Thana Diwas,Lok Darbar
Srinagar, May 8: As a part of the public outreach programme of J&K Government, Srinagar Police observed “Thana Diwas- Lok Darbar” cum awareness programme of New Criminal Laws* across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the city.
In a statement, police spokesperson said in the *1st phase for May 2025, the event was organised in 15 Police Stations* of the district which include PS Lalbazar, PS Shergarhi, PS Khanyar, PS Nowgam, PS Sadder, PS Kralkhud, PS Bemina, PS Shalteng, PS Chanpora.

“The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers and juridictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc,” the statement said.
“During these Lok Darbar cum awareness programme of New Criminal Laws, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their greivances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues, floating population etc. some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded.”

It is our duty to ensure that every citizen feels heard and that their grievances are addressed promptly. We are committed to building a safer and more secure environment for all.”
“Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society. Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing police-public relationship,” the statement said.
“By organising Thana Diwas - Lok Darbar cum awareness programme of New Criminal Laws*, Srinagar Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroots level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances.”
