Srinagar Police attach Rs 1 crore worth of property of habitual drug peddler in Natipora

Srinagar, Dec 07: Srinagar Police on Sunday attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately ₹1 crore in Natipora area of the city as part of its continued crackdown on drug trafficking and the ecosystem supporting the narcotics trade.

Police said the attached property is registered in the name of Javid Ahmad Ganie, son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Astan Mohalla, Natipora. The accused has been described as a habitual drug peddler and is involved in FIR No. 23/2025 registered at Police Station Chanapora under Sections 8, 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

During the course of investigation, police said it was conclusively established that the residential house had been acquired using proceeds generated from illegal narcotics trade. Based on the evidence gathered, the competent authority ordered the attachment of the property under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Police said the attachment process was executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Chanapora, ensuring full compliance with legal procedures. As per the order, the property owner has been restrained from selling, transferring, altering or creating any third-party interest in the attached house.

Officials said the action is part of a larger effort to financially cripple drug networks by targeting assets created from illicit trade, in addition to prosecuting those directly involved in peddling narcotics.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and said strict action will continue against individuals found promoting, financing or facilitating the narcotics trade in any manner. [KNT]
