‘Srinagar needs art spaces’
Srinagar, Jul 12: National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, on Saturday visited Sufi Art Gallery, showcasing the works of young and seasoned artists.
The exhibition, rich in depth and meaning, highlighted the vibrant artistic expression and cultural resilience of Kashmir.
Speaking at the event, Sadiq said, “I was truly moved by the creativity and storytelling embedded in each artwork. Every piece reflected the soul of Kashmir and the voices of its people. I congratulate the organiser, Saika Rashid, for taking this beautiful initiative forward and for creating a platform that celebrates art and encourages young artists.”
He further announced his commitment to promoting cultural spaces in the Valley, saying, “I have assured the organisers that I will take up the demand for an Art Exhibition Hall in Srinagar with the Chief Minister. I also intend to identify a suitable space within my own constituency of Zadibal to develop a similar facility for regular exhibitions and artistic gatherings.”
Sadiq also appreciated the presence and contribution of Ghulam Nabi Qasba, former SMC Commissioner, renowned artist Masood Hussain, and several others who continue to play an important role in preserving and promoting Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
“Art is a reflection of identity, emotion, and resistance. It deserves not only appreciation but institutional support. As public representatives, we have a duty to ensure such creative energies are nurtured and sustained,” he said.
