Zojila, Mar 20:  The Srinagar-Leh National Highway connecting Jammu and Kashmir with Ladakh Wednesday reopened for traffic movement after remaining closed for 35 days due to heavy snowfall in mid-February.

SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh visited the Zojila Pass, assessed the snow clearance operation and road conditions, and reviewed the traffic management.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, he said that Zojila Pass was reopened after being closed on February 15 due to heavy snowfall.

Singh said that the highway had been thrown open for one-way traffic and only LMVs with essential commodities would be allowed.

He said no passenger vehicle would be allowed as of now.

Singh said that till Thursday they would issue an advisory for LMVs.

Officials said dozens of LMVs crossed the Zojila Pass from Drass towards Srinagar.
