Srinagar-Leh Highway temporarily closed due to slippery conditions

Ganderbal, Mar 22: The Srinagar-Leh National Highway was today temporarily closed for vehicular movement due to slippery road conditions after fresh snowfall at Zoji La Pass, officials said.

A police official said that the road has been closed keeping in view the slippery condition of the road. He said after improvement in weather and road conditions the traffic movement will be restored on the highway.

Meanwhile, as per the traffic plan and advisory issues by Kargil police, subject to fair weather and road clearance, only one way traffic for light motor vehicles (Load carriers) with anti skid chain shall be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar on Saturday (March 23). Vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarag from 10 AM to 1 PM and thereafter no vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.
