Srinagar-Jammu NH open for 2-way traffic of LMVs
Ramban, Apr 29: Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light medium vehicles and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles for Jammu on Tuesday.
Traffic officials monitoring traffic regulations on most problematic and landslide prone areas passing through Ramban informed that National Highway 44 remained open for two-way traffic on private cars , passenger light, medium vehicles and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles for Jammu.
However, they said traffic movement remained slow due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Peeda, Mehad-Cafeteria and various other locations between Nashri and Banihal besides ongoing four-lane construction works. They further said slow traffic movement was also observed due to on foot movement of nomads with their livestock.
The only surface link connecting valley Kashmir with other parts of the country had suffered extensive damages following torrential rains on April 19/20 although National Highway was reopened but landslide and debris is still accumulated at several places between Chanderkote and Ramsu sectors.
