Ramban, Nov 24: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44) remained open for two-way movement of light, medium, and heavy vehicles on Monday, according to traffic authorities.

In a fresh advisory, the Traffic department confirmed that the highway would continue to remain open for all categories of vehicles, subject to fair weather and road conditions on Tuesday.

Officials monitoring the route said traffic flowed throughout the day but remained slow at several key stretches—Balli Nullah, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, Maroog, and Kishtwari Pather—due to single-lane restrictions and the breakdown of few heavy vehicles.

Despite the sluggish movement, hundreds of vehicles crossed the Chenani–Nashri and Banihal–Qazigund (Navyug) tunnels till late Monday evening.

Authorities have urged light motor vehicle drivers and private car owners to travel during daylight hours, warning that night travel may be difficult because of ongoing heavy vehicle movement between the two Chenani - Nashri and Banihal - Qazigund tunnels.

Drivers were also reminded to maintain lane discipline, avoid overtaking, and follow traffic regulations to prevent bottlenecks.

Travellers have been advised to check the latest traffic updates before commencing their journey.

Construction work under the ongoing four-laning project between Ramban and Banihal continues.
