Earlier, traffic authorities said that while the highway remained open during the day on Tuesday, traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles and single-lane and poor conditions of the road stretch at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pathar areas of Ramban.

They said that despite the slow movement, hundreds of vehicles crossed the Chenani-Nashri and Banihal-Qazigund tunnels till late evening.

The traffic authorities advised the commuters, passengers, and LMV operators not to undertake journeys on the highway during the night hours due to apprehension of shooting stones between the Ramban and Banihal sectors.

They also advised the commuters and drivers to avoid unnecessary halts between the Ramban and Banihal sectors, especially near landslide and shooting-stone-prone areas.

Meanwhile, Kishtwar-Anantnag National Highway 244 remained closed for the fourth consecutive day due to snow accumulation at Sinthan Top and other nearby areas.
