Srinagar–Jammu NH open

Ramban, Nov 8: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44) remained open for two-way movement of light, medium, and heavy vehicles on Saturday.

Traffic authorities informed that the highway would remain open on Sunday as well, permitting two-way traffic for all categories of vehicles.

Officials said vehicular movement, however, remained slow at several single-lane stretches, including Balli Nullah, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwass, Maroog, and Kishtwari Pattar. The breakdown of a few heavy vehicles and the on-foot movement of nomadic families with their livestock towards Jammu also caused congestion at multiple locations.

A fresh advisory issued by the traffic department stated that, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, light, medium, and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply from both ends—Srinagar and Jammu—on Sunday.

Commuters have been advised to maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking or wrong-lane driving to prevent traffic jams.
