Srinagar-Jammu NH open
Ramban, Nov 24: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles but the Batote-Kishtwar-Sinthan Top-Anantnag National Highway remained blocked due to accumulation of light snow on Sunday.
The traffic authorities said that the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open but traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles besides single-lane road stretches at Dalwass and Mehar Cafeteria and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pathar and at other road construction sites between Nahsri and Banihal sector of the highway.
Quoting an advisory issued by Sub Divisional Magistrate Chatroo, given fresh light snowfall at Sinthan Top and severely reduced visibility caused by thick fog, the movement of all types of vehicles on Kishtwar-Sinthan Top-Anantnag Highway was suspended on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Department issued a fresh advisory for Monday stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
They advised passenger LMV operators not to undertake journeys on the highway due to apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
The Traffic Department advised LMV operators to prefer journeys on the highway only during the daytime.
