Ramban, June, 24: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles and heavy vehicles on Monday.

The traffic authorities said that slow traffic movement was observed between Nashri and Banihal sectors due to the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles and single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, Panthyal, Magarkot, Shalgari, and Nachlana besides poor roads at many places between Nashri and Banihal.

They advised the passenger vehicle operators and commuters not to undertake journeys on the highway during night hours due to apprehensions of shooting stones between the Ramban and Banihal sectors.

Earlier, SSP Traffic, National Highway, Ramban, Rohit Baskotra said that for the smooth and hassle-free journey of Amarnath yatris, CCTV cameras had been installed at vital locations along the highway from Udhampur to Banihal.

He said that these CCTV cameras would help in regulating traffic movement and yatra vehicles smoothly and in a hassle-free manner.

Meanwhile, traffic authorities said that subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the highway.
