Srinagar-Jammu NH open
Ramban, Apr 9: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles but the traffic movement remained slow due to the narrow road stretches at many places between Nashri and Banihal sectors on Tuesday.
Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic in Ramban said that the highway remained open but the traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of seven heavy vehicles, single lane carriageway at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, Panthyal, Nachlana, and Shalgari and poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri-Banihal sectors.
They said that despite slow traffic movement, hundreds of LMVs and heavy vehicles had crossed the Nashri-Banihal sector of the highway for their respective destinations without any interruption.
They said heavy load carriers headed towards Kashmir and Jammu in a regulated manner.
Meanwhile, the J&K Traffic Police Department issued a fresh advisory for Wednesday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of the highway.
