Srinagar-Jammu NH closed
Ramban, Aug 31: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained blocked for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday. Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police, National Highway, Ramban, Raja Adil Hamid Sunday evening said that the highway is closed.
However, he said that stranded vehicles carrying essential supplies for Kashmir were being allowed on a regulated basis towards Kashmir from Jakhani, Udhampur.
He said that around a 100-meter road stretch in the Balli Nalla area is sinking, and after necessary road repairs, stranded trucks carrying supplies for Kashmir were allowed to move towards Kashmir.
The SSP said that the highway is still closed.
Officials said that the Srinagar-bound up tube is still blocked between Samroli, Balli Nullah, and Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Srinagar-bound traffic was allowed through another two-lane tube.
The highway was partially restored on Thursday, but was closed in the evening for road repair works.
On Sunday evening, heavy load carriers stranded for the past six days were allowed to proceed on a regulated basis towards Kashmir.
