Srinagar-Jammu NH blocked

Ramban, Dec 28: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained blocked due to snow accumulation and slippery road conditions between the Banihal Qazigund Navyug Tunnel and Mir Bazaar sector, traffic authorities said.

They said traffic could not be released till late Saturday evening on the highway due to snow accumulation and slippery conditions on the road between Navyug Tunnel and Mir Bazaar.

The traffic authorities advised commuters to avoid journeys on the highway till the road is cleared.

Officials said a decision regarding the vehicular movement on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway would be taken on Sunday morning after assessment of the road condition and getting a green signal from road maintenance agencies.

They said the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Highway (NH-244) is still closed due to snow accumulation.

Due to blockade of roads, hundreds of vehicles travelling to Srinagar are also stranded at different locations between Udhampur and Ramban.

No vehicle is being allowed towards Srinagar beyond Seri, Ramban.
