Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains open
Ramban, July 11: The Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open today for two-way traffic of light medium vehicles and one way traffic of heavy vehicles for Jammu.
However, the traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of few heavy vehicles and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, and between Maroog to Kishtwar Pathar areas between Nashri and Banihal sectors of National Highway.
They said heavy vehicles released from Qazigund, Kashmir are still heading towards Jammu in a regulated manner. Commuters and drivers complained that they remain stuck in traffic congestion at few places between Ramban and Banihal during the day on Thursday.
Meanwhile, officials said that the highway will remain open on Friday for two-way traffic of light medium vehicles, and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles for Kashmir.
Traffic authorities said, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, light-medium vehicles carrying Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims would be allowed to ply on either side of highway on Friday.
They said heavy vehicles would be allowed to move towards Kashmir on Friday afternoon or evening.
