Ramban, June 10: Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light medium passenger vehicles and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles for Kashmir on Monday, traffic authorities said.

However, the traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles, 90 degree curves near at Tunnel, T5, Panthyal , on-foot movement of nomad families with their livestock and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, Panthyal, Magarkote, Shalgari, Gangroo, Nachlana besides poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri and Banihal.

Meanwhile, traffic Police headquarters issued a fresh advisory for Tuesday stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions light-medium vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side whereas heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply towards Jammu from Qazigund Kashmir after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44, on Tuesday.

Traffic authorities once again advised passenger vehicle operators, and commuters not to undertake journeys on National Highway 44, during the night hours due to apprehensions of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal sectors.
