Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains open
Ramban, May 2: Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light, medium and heavy vehicles on Thursday.
However, traffic authorities said the highway remained blocked for one hour due to road repair work at Dalwass. Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic in Ramban said that the National Highway remained open .But the traffic movement remained slow due to on foot movement of nomads and their livestock, slippery road conditions and single lane carriageway at Dalwass, Mehad –Cafeteria, Panthyal Nachlana. Shalgari, Kishtwari Pathar and poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri-Banihal sectors.
They said despite slow traffic movement hundreds of light medium and heavy vehicles had crossed the Nashri-Banihal sector for their respective destinations without any interruption till late this evening.
They said heavy load carriers are heading towards Kashmir and Jammu in a regulated manner.
Meanwhile, the traffic department issued a fresh advisory for Friday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance light medium and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side.
However, traffic officials at Traffic Control Ramban advised vehicle operators and commuters not to undertake journeys on the National Highway without confirming the status of the road from Traffic Control Units of Srinagar, Jammu and Udhampur on Friday.
