Ramban, Sep 27: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for one-way traffic of heavy vehicles towards Jammu on Saturday, but vehicular movement continued to remain slow at several stretches due to poor road conditions and the on-foot movement of nomadic families with their livestock, official sources said.

They said traffic was being regulated at Tharad in Udhampur district, where a 250–300 meter single-lane stretch of the road has been causing frequent congestion. Movement also remained sluggish at Nashri–Dalwass and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pattar, where uneven and unpaved patches are adding to the difficulties.

Traffic authorities confirmed that no heavy vehicle was allowed towards Srinagar. Only light and medium passenger vehicles were permitted for Kashmir-bound movement on Saturday. Vehicles bound for Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts were also allowed from Nagrota and the Nashri tunnel between 7 am and 10 am, officials added.

Meanwhile, traffic officials monitoring the Ramban sector said that heavy vehicles released from Qazigund in south Kashmir were heading towards Jammu at a slow pace between Banihal and Ramban till late Saturday evening.
