Ramban, Dec 21: After the completion of the construction work of its two lanes , the bridge at Chamba Seri area of Ramban on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was thrown open for two-way traffic today..

The bridge was not officially inaugurated yet as the work on its another two lanes is still in progress and is near completion.

Engineers of sub-contractor of construction company CPPL engaged by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) said that it is a four lane bridge and 118-meter bridge long. The work on two lanes was completed and the bridge was thrown open for two-way traffic this morning.

A traffic police official monitoring regulations on the National Highway at Seri said the bridge was opened and all the traffic was diverted through this new bridge at Chamba Seri, by the road maintenance agency NHAI.

He said traffic is plying smoothly through this newly constructed bridge. Commuters and vehicle operators can expect smooth traffic on the Ramban- Kelamorh stretch of the Ramban –Banihal section of National Highway..

Officials of the Construction Company said the work on the second arm or additional two –lanes is also near completion and work is being fast-tracked towards completion.

The new four-lane bridge is the part of Ramban- Banihal four-lane project constructed on the Ramban-Kelamorh road stretch and will provide significant relief from traffic jams to commuters and vehicle operators.

The newly constructed bridge will reduce the travel time for commuters on the highway. Officials said work on parapets, furnishing work on the additional two lanes of Chamba Seri Bridge and the work on the road leading to Kelamorh Bridges are in progress. They said the final stage of work on an additional two–lane road from Trishul Morh to Chamba Seri to Kelamorh Marogg stretch is in progress.
