Srinagar, Feb 18: The Water Works Division Srinagar has announced a 30-hour water supply shutdown on February 22 and 23 to carry out essential repairs on the Sindh Power Canal HEP Old Ganderbal and desilting of the forebay.

According to a public notice, the raw water supply to Water Treatment Plants at Nishat, Alusteng, and Rangil will be severely impacted, affecting potable water availability in major parts of Srinagar city and its adjoining areas.

The shutdown will impact water supply in the following localities:

North & Central Srinagar: Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Shuhama, Hadoora, Chatterhama, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbagh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouhpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohri Kadal, Nowhatta.

Dal Lake & Hazratbal Areas: Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Rainawari.

Advisory for Residents & Hospitals: Officials have advised residents to store sufficient water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the shutdown.

Meanwhile, hospitals in and around Srinagar have been asked to coordinate with PHE authorities for necessary water supply arrangements.
