Nagrota, Aug 05: Mahadev Cricket Club today defeated Raja Mandlik Club by making 115 runs in the finals of a month-long cricket tournament played at Barn in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.

Rajeshwar Singh was declared as Man of the Match of the tournament, organised by Raja Mandik Cricket Club Barn, in which 32 teams participated. Complementing the winner, runner up and all the participating teams for their enthusiastic and energetic participation in the tournament, while speaking at the concluding ceremony, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana said Jammu and Kashmir in general and Nagrota, in particular, has immense talent in various disciplines of sports that needs to be identified, properly coached and provided larger canvas to showcase their potential.

Rana said tournaments of such a scale will help in identifying talent, so as to polish and prepare them for bigger events. He also appreciated the enthusiasm among the budding cricketers and said that over month-long competitions the participating teams have enthralled sports lovers and motivated the young people to take to sports in a big way, not only for their overall personality development but also career advancement. He said holding such events places the players in a good stead to face the competitive world with confidence.

Rana congratulated the winner-up team, saying win and loss in sports should be taken in the spirit of camaraderie. Though just one team makes it to the top in any sporting competition yet this should not be taken as the end of the game. Like any other field, in sports also there is always another time", he said and hoped that emulating this spirit will motivate the players to give their best and play with commitment.

He appreciated the enthusiasm among the budding cricketers, saying their participation in the month-long competition must have sharpened their sporting skills, hoping this will enhance their confidence and determination.  He expressed satisfaction over sports gaining momentum across the Nagrota Constituency and said that the various sports events stand testimony to the love for games among the local youth, who despite lacking certain facilities remained all along in the front to make their mark in various competitions.

Rana complimented the organizers for holding the tournament, saying this will go a long way in providing a bigger platform to the budding cricketers.

Besides a large number of sports lovers from the adjoining areas and even from Jammu, prominent among those who witnessed the finals included Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Baba Chanchal Singh, Raj Dev Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Bharti Sharma, Surinder Singh Gilli, Rajan Singh Happy, Swarn Singh Numberdar, Bikku Panch, Kuldeep Singh, Pritam Singh, Pritam Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Kounchal Singh,Uttam Singh,Sukhdev Singh, Rakesh Singh, Raju Sharma and others.
