'Sports activities play important role in developing moral character of students'
Srinagar, Aug 26: Hanfia Model High School Chandilora Tangmarg hosted a successful volleyball tournament, showcasing the importance of sports in student development. The event featured prominent guests from the educational sector and local community.
G N Var, President of the Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK), was the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Syed Ghulam Mohammad Shah, Patron of Gousia Educational Trust Baramulla, and Zaffar Iqbal, Zonal Educational Officer Tangmarg.
The tournament saw participation from four girls' teams and six boys' teams. In the finals, the girls' team from Hanfia Model High School Chandilora emerged victorious, while Gousia 11 won the boys' category.
Addressing the gathering, G N Var emphasised the crucial role of sports and moral education in student development. "Sports are integral to education, building character and resilience in our youth," he stated. Var highlighted the need for a holistic approach to education, particularly in light of challenges like excessive mobile screen time.
He added, "Our priority is not only to provide quality education but also to focus on moral education and sports activities. Moral education is essential to curb the growing menace of drugs and other societal crimes."
Principal Mohammad Altaf Wani of Hanfia Model High School expressed pride in the students' performances, emphasizing the tournament's role in fostering unity and discipline.
The event concluded with the felicitation of winners, setting a benchmark for future sports events in the region and underscoring the importance of physical activities in overall student development
