SpiceJet clarifies no safety risk after interior window panel comes loose mid-flight

Srinagar, July 3: A non-structural interior window frame on one of SpiceJet’s Q400 aircraft became loose during a flight and was found dislodged, the airline confirmed in an official statement.

SpiceJet emphasized that cabin pressurization remained stable throughout the journey, and passenger safety was never compromised. The loose component, described as a cosmetic trim used for shade, does not contribute to the aircraft's structural integrity or pressure maintenance, the airline added.

"The Q400 aircraft features multiple window layers, including a pressure-bearing outer pane, ensuring continued safety even if a superficial panel is dislodged," SpiceJet stated.

The incident gained attention after a passenger posted a video of the dislodged panel on social media platform X, raising concerns about the aircraft's airworthiness.
