Speeding vehicles pose danger to residents in Seerbagh, Khrew
Pulwama, Nov 17: Residents of Seerbagh Khrew have expressed serious concern over the rising menace of speeding vehicles in the area, urging the district administration Pulwama to immediately install speed breakers at vulnerable points along the road.
Locals said that unchecked speeding has turned the stretch into a “danger zone,” with drivers often passing through the locality as if it were a national highway.
“Reckless driving has become routine here, posing a constant threat to pedestrians, schoolchildren and elderly people,” they said.
According to residents, the area has witnessed multiple accidents over the years, and minor incidents continue to occur frequently.
“Off and on, accidents are reported on this road. We fear that if timely measures are not taken, it may lead to a major mishap,” a local said.
They said that despite raising the issue several times, including through print media, no substantial action has been taken so far.
“We have repeatedly brought this matter to the notice of the concerned authorities, but the problem persists. We urge the administration not to wait for an unfortunate incident to act,” the residents said.
The locals have appealed to Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to sanction the installation of speed breakers and initiate other traffic-calming measures to ensure public safety in the area.
