Spectrum Fest unearths student talent, shapes life perspectives: Director NIFT

Srinagar, June 9: The two-day event - Spectrum 2024, concluded at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar. The fest witnessed enthusiastic student participation and vibrant sports activities. During the two-day event, the hustle and bustle were witnessed at NIFT Srinagar with the massive participation of students in different games and sports activities.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Director NIFT Srinagar, Dr Javid Ahmad Wani, expressed his delight at the success of the event. "Spectrum promotes cultural exchanges between the students, and such events can change the life perspectives of our youth," Dr Wani said. "It is also a platform to discover hidden talents, and we are thrilled to witness the energy and creativity of our students."

The festival featured a diverse array of competitions and performances, including fashion shows, dance battles, music competitions, and various sporting events. Students from across the region showcased their skills, fostering a spirit of friendly rivalry and camaraderie.

"Events like Spectrum are not just about winning or losing," Dr Wani added. "They are about exploring one's potential, building teamwork, and celebrating the diversity of our vibrant student community."

NIFT Srinagar has long been a hub for nurturing creative minds and fostering a conducive environment for personal growth. The institute's commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience has been evident in the success of events like Spectrum 2024.

As the festival drew to a close, Dr. Wani congratulated the winners and participants, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and dedication. He also extended his gratitude to the faculty, staff, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make Spectrum 2024 a resounding success.

The euphoric atmosphere at NIFT Srinagar served as a testament to the institute's vision of shaping future leaders in the fashion industry while promoting a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and personal growth.

The Spectrum-2024 event attracted over 600 students from more than 12 schools, colleges, and universities across the region.

The campus was abuzz with different sports activities being held simultaneously at the campus which made the atmosphere electric as students were demonstrating their energy, skill, and passion.

The participants from different educational institutions competed in 24 events including Best out of Waste, Mural Art, Frame within the Frame, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, Battle of Bands, Group Dance, Mental Marathon, Open Mic, Hogathon, and Spot On.

Throughout the event, the campus was excited as participants engaged in activities that highlighted their athletic abilities and competitive spirit. While the players were exhibiting their talent in competing with their counterparts, their peer groups, who had come to witness the matches, were busy cheering for their schoolmates.

The participation of both- Boy and Girl students from different schools kept the campus alive.

Earlier, in his inaugural address, the J&K LG commended the management of the NIFT Srinagar for holding such an event which he said not only fosters sportsmanship but also encourages students to pursue excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.

He emphasized the importance of such events in promoting holistic development among the youth.

Besides the participation in sports events, the Spectrum-2024 also provided an opportunity to the school children to engage with their peers from other schools, build sportsmanship and exhibit their talent.

"It was not only about the participation in the games or sports events, but through this event, we made new friends, shared our ideas with them and also developed a new bond with them," said Ishrat, one of the participating students.
