Srinagar, Jan 31: The J&K Bank Heart Clinic on Wheels on Saturday conducted a free specialised cardiac health camp at Moul Mouj Health Centre, Karanagar, under the initiative “SENIORS’ Heart Care,” aimed at promoting preventive cardiac care among senior citizens.

The camp was organised by Moul Mouj Foundation in collaboration with Ummeed Foundation and GK Labs, with support from Life Imaging Centre and Kashmir Clinics Central. It was specially designed for elderly patients and offered free medical consultations, medicines and a range of advanced cardiac investigations.

Diagnostic services provided during the camp included echocardiography, CT scan, treadmill test (TMT), ECG, spirometry, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), 24-hour Holter monitoring, NT-proBNP testing, X-ray and other essential blood investigations, enabling comprehensive cardiac evaluation under one roof.

Renowned cardiologist and Project Advisor Dr Khurshid Aslam Khan, who personally examined patients during the camp, emphasised the role of modifiable and preventable risk factors in heart disease. Addressing patients and attendants, he said many determinants of heart health are within individual control. Awareness sessions were also held during the camp, focusing on healthy ageing, lifestyle modification and early recognition of cardiac symptoms among senior citizens.

On the occasion, senior geriatric consultant Dr Zubair Saleem thanked Prof Khurshid Aslam Khan for his active participation and guidance. He stressed that age-related physiological changes should not be mistaken for disease and that a clear distinction must be made between normal ageing and illness.

He added that any new or unusual symptoms in elderly persons should be addressed promptly, as early intervention leads to better recovery and prevents complications.
