Special status, statehood core issues for NC: Sakeena Itoo
Jammu, Feb 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare Department Sakeena Itoo Tuesday asserted that the special status and statehood were the core issues for the National Conference and were never ignored.
She stated that the issues were crucial and related to the disempowerment of J&K and its people. “We have flagged these issues of statehood and special status at every available opportunity. Today our MLAs also staged a sit-in in this connection,” Itoo said, while responding to media queries, outside J&K Legislature.
Responding to queries about the controversy about the National Law University, she took a dig at the BJP, stating, “Like the BJP raked up controversy about the medical college on religious lines, leading to its closure. After the establishment of NLU here, it can raise similar controversy on regional or religious lines making it difficult for Muslim students to study here. It would be better to establish it in Kashmir where all can study without any difficulty.”
