Special prayers held at Jamia Masjid for end to prolonged dry spell
Srinagar, Jan 9: Special prayers were held at historic Jamia Masjid in Downtown to seek rain and snowfall in view of the continuing unusually dry winter in Kashmir.
Imam-e-Hai of Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Naqshbandi, led the special prayers for rain and snow, with a large congregation of worshippers participating with heavy hearts as the prolonged dry spell continues to cause concern across the Valley.
He urged the people to turn to Allah with humility and repentance, and to intensify their supplications, seeking His mercy and blessings. Emotional scenes were witnessed as people prayed for an end to the prolonged dry spell.
Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, had announced special prayers at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, to seek rain and snowfall in view. However, Mirwaiz said he was denied permission to proceed to Jamia Masjid.
