Srinagar, Aug 30: The Special Forces of the Army showcased their exceptional grit and unmatched skill by executing high-altitude Combat Free Fall (CFF) jumps in the challenging mountainous terrain in Kashmir under the jurisdiction of the Northern Command.

The high-intensity exercise, carried out in coordination with the Army Aviation Squadron, involved troops parachuting from military aircraft at extreme altitudes to simulate real-time infiltration and mission-oriented combat operations in rugged high-altitude zones.

Defence officials said the exercise tested not only the physical endurance and mental toughness of the paratroopers but also the operational synergy between airborne troops and aviation assets.

“The CFF jumps in the Northern Command sector to reaffirm the preparedness of Special Forces to undertake swift, precise, and high-risk missions in any terrain, be it glaciers, mountains, or conflict zones,” a senior officer said.

Operating at altitudes where oxygen is scarce and weather conditions can change within minutes, the mission highlighted the adaptability of India’s elite units in extreme circumstances.

The demonstration also underscored the Army’s emphasis on maintaining battle readiness and tactical superiority in the sensitive northern borders.

Sources said that such Combat Free Fall operations are considered among the most complex airborne maneuvers in modern warfare.

They require specialised equipment, advanced training, and seamless coordination to ensure mission success.

The Northern Command has been at the forefront of preparing its personnel for high-stakes scenarios in one of the world’s toughest operational environments.
